M. Barrie

    Early Years and Education

    James Matthew Barrie was born on May 9, 1860, in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland[1†][3†].

    He was the ninth of ten children born to his parents[1†][3†]. His father, David Barrie, was a modestly successful weaver[1†][3†]. His mother, Margaret Ogilvy, assumed her deceased mother’s household responsibilities at the age of eight[1†].
