Biography of Annie Oakley
Early Life and CareerAnnie Oakley, born in Darke County, Ohio, was an American sharpshooter and the first American female superstar known for her exceptional marksmanship.
She gained fame for her starring role in the show 'Buffalo Bill's Wild West'. One of her most famous tricks involved shooting a playing card in half with a .22 caliber rifle from a distance of 90 feet, before it touched the ground.
Oakley is also credited with teaching 15,000 women how to use firearms, as she believed that women should be able to defend themselves.
